Hey everyone, so One Piece is still going on and the end is nowhere near in sight. So discussions about this manga seem pretty relevant to me.

I like the idea of this current arc, like a mix of Enies Lobby and Impel Down. And it's focussing on the Sunny Team and Sanji which is cool. I love the world building going on at the moment, including Marine comic strips/children's series, Germa 66, Big Mom's crew linked by marriage, the other Supernovas (and they're getting crewmates as well!). Looking forward to seeing how this arc plays out.

SPOILER : How many siblings had Sanji ?! We already know he had 2 old brothers,
I think there are still one left, because the organization is based a lot on the number 6, so, with sanji, it makes 4/5? brothers and 1/2? sister.

Oh no, the whole family is there:
Judge is their old man
Reiju is the eldest and only girl
Ichiji, Niji, Sanji and Yonji are Quadruplets

This arc has been pretty good so far. Kind of has a Jaya and Skypeia feel to it. The Wano Kuni arc definitely will have the Enies Lobby feel(All strawhats leveling up and each having a huge 1 on 1 fight).

so what do you guys think has luffy beaten crackers and do you think it was niji that beat cosette or maybe someone setting him up and fucking cloning man thats something i thought i would never see in one piece. sanji relationship with his family really sucks there all scum

I'm really liking that Vinsmoke thing. Those guys are like the worst family ever. I don't know how good this arc wil get, but I really like that part and am pretty excited about it.

And that's good because I feel One Piece has been on a downward slide for some time now. The last amazing arc, for me, was Enies Lobby. Most arcs after that have been a bit of a let down. Not sure why exactly. Maybe too many characters, power levels that are just a bit too high for anything non fight related to matter. And no real breather arc like Loguetown to have so peaceful character development (the closest was the elephant city, but I thought it was pretty forgettable).

I really feel the "New Worl" has completely failed to deliver. It's just more of the same except bigger, but since everyone's more powerful, it's not really a problem. Obviously, Fishman Island was the worst, if only because of how hyped it had been for the entire manga. Thriller Bark was okay, but there wasn't really anything fresh and it quickly devolved into a big mess meant to hype the Luffy/Moria fight. That was also kind of the problem with the Doflamingo arc. Loads of pretty uninspired secondary characters that took up space for not much in the end. It wasn't terrible, but the whole thing feels pretty insipid and formulaic in retrospect. Punk Hazard was okay I guess.

Oh shit, I checked to see what oter arcs took place and I completely forgot the while White Beard mess and everything that was around it. Damn. Well, I think Impel down was kind of fun, but the rest, eeeh. The War obviously didn't leave any memories with me. Pretty bad for something so huge. Yeah, I dunno, it definitely wasn't as good as it should have been.

Ok so as the last chapter hinted, the Vinsmoke Family is going full star wars clone army on us. I can only guess the 66 or Germa 66 is a reference to the order 66.

does anyone think that sanji is actually planning on marrying her or did you think that sanji caught onto something that purin said. and i the only one keen to see luffy vs the enraged army.

Latest chapter reads like Naruto tier writing. Once again I'm glad I dropped this after Dressrosa.

Nah, its fitting and it was foreshadowed since skypea.

I was not expecting Lufffi to turn super saijan tho.

Not gonna lie, anything after the timeskip has been a tier below what had come before. Punk Hazard was okay, and the Wano arc is honestly better than Dressrossa ever was, but it's all such a blurry mess. So many fucking characters and there's never any real time to actually enjoy them. It's still much better than say Bleach, where oftentimes, after a certain point, new characters were basically only a character design and a quirk or two. Still, it's become kind of a slog, the pacing is out of control (holy shit how many chapters are we in this arc again???), and yeah, save for a few here and there, the characters just don't get the time they deserve because they're are so many and it's just impossible to focus on all of them. Even the straw hat crew end up being sort of in the background at this point. I mean, what was this Zoro fight ? That was just going through the motions, it really didn't serve any specific purpose other than give Zoro his token fight of the arc, and it was very inconsequential.

Still, withing all this mess, there are moments that stand out. Luffy going gear 5 was pretty cool (even though fuck me, not another power up again !!!) with the buildup of the last two chapters. There's still drama, which is pretty cool.

But it's getting more and more shaky on its foundations, it's unfocused, confusing, sometimes pointless. Seriously, Oda, you had fucking Big Mom be taken down by Law and, of all people, Kid ? What the actual fuck ? How can you drop the ball like that ?

Well, Bleach is my favorite shonen of all time, so I guess the comparision is not working for me, even if I agree not all the characters were as fleshed out as they could be.

But yeah I agree that Oda is adding to many characters and I couldn't care less about any of them, I was caring about the strawhats until as you mention, they seemed to become back characters, but I guess Oda is just showing us how they fit in the world.

Honestly I was expecting that Sanji and Zoro were the ones to defeat Big Mom and Kid and Trafalgar the other two guys, would have been more meaningful to showcase the growth of the crew honestly.

Now that the cat is starting to get out of the bag I hope the next will be them getting to the one piece AND defeating blackbeard and the final arc toppling the world goverment with the revolutionary army and Dragoon.

How can you be the man with most freedom in the world if there is a world goverment that want to hunt you down?

To me it's a sad story, One Piece used to be years ago one of my favorite series, every chapters coming were very refreshing and i was eagerly awaiting new weekly chapters.

But at that point, i simply couldn't care anymore : while fruit power users were very rare and had their encounter and battle with the crew very memorable in the first half of One Piece, at some point it felt like everyone suddenly has a fruit power and new characters popping up by dozen had no charisma anymore, the serie became generic battle after generic battle with superpowers.

To me the worse was all the "power up" , a manga trope i always disliked but that One Piece turned to nearly eleven, not yet up to the ridiculous amount of power up of a dragon ball serie but still it ceased to make things interesting to me.

I still check occasionally, but i must say that the Japan-like island has generated 0 interest in me, so much garbage character i don't care about, at least the dragon guy was fun, drunken fight and all, but wow, how much the mighty manga i liked has fallen in my heart.

Though that joyboy thing is rather hilarious and breath a lot of fresh air, basically Luffy becoming an old school classic cartoon character that went live in the One Piece world, now that's a lot of fun.
