I mean, I have to agree with Itagaki, drinking a bunch of foam is gross and no way to enjoy a beer.
It was just weird how Paru depicted her family as being terrified of her father and acting like they were serving "a King," and he's even drawn to look like some evil presence in their house. I feel like I've learned something about Itagaki that I shouldn't know.

I think it is something cultural in terms of the treatment that the japanese father receives in his own home. What did surprise me is the way Itagaki appears drawn by Paru. One would expect a friendlier form for his father, but at least he does not seem to have been an aggressive and unloving person with his family, maybe a bit distant and somewhat intimidating person.

jettatore, 100% agreed on your assessment there. Maybe we're supposed to see it as Paru being intimidated by her larger-than-life father figure. She's trying to be a mangaka (and succeeding?) but doubting her own success, because Keisuke Itagaki has very big shoes to fill. Off-topic, I've been getting into whiskey lately (no thanks to reading a billion chapters of Baki), and I can tell you this: Drinking Wild Turkey neat is fucking disgusting. Hanayama, c'mon, you're a rich yakuza dude. You don't need to drink American swill liquor. There are so many classy, high quality whiskeys. Even this version of Wild Turkey is way better. Hanayama could drink that, not the cheap stuff.
Hanayama should drink Japanese whiskey, because there's a bunch of good ones.

Man yeah, I don't mind the taste of decent vodka or rhum served neat. But whisky, unless it's really good, is fucking vile taken like that (even the hangover is worse).

The next chapter of the manga shows that Paru isn't terrified of her dad, but she feels distant from him because she was born much later than her siblings. There are 18 chapters of Paru's Graffiti out at the moment, but only 5 scanlated.

Yeah, it doesn't look like fear, he's not doing anything bad or scary, I guess it's more a mix between traditionnal roles, with the man of the house having a lot of authority, and the fact that he comes home so rarely everybody really wants it to be special whenever he does, so there's a lot of pressure to make the most of the time he's there. Now, where it could translate in a lot of bonding in some families, in this case, it's the whole family trying their best to make him comfortable, for example by carefully remember every ritual of his. Of course, it's hard to actually get to know someone when they come home once a month and you focus mostly on pleasing them when they do.

As always, thanks One & team.
Interesting chapter, it felt a little weird for me the cut from Shibukawa to the doppo fight, thought some extra analysis of Aiki never being fully complete or something alike was comming, not just that the rikishi are strong, oh well.
I can't really figure out how summo strategy can save the life of this guy vs Doppo, even with my years of experience in martial arts, I guess that's what makes this fight interesting.

Thanks, One and Stew! The Professor is one of my favorite new characters, this should be good.

I was expecting a couple of chapters between the Shibukawa and Doppo fights, looks like Itagaki wants the reader to dive right into the meat of things. A bit surprising to see Baki saying he was in shock when the sumo giant strength was overcoming the aki technique, i mean he already experienced first hand what people like Yujiro can do when it comes to sheer strength vs technique.

Valid point, it may have been Baki being overly flattering and polite. He tends to do that. Remember when Baki devastated Ali Jr. in a completely one-sided fight, and then complimented him afterwards as being a very high-level opponent? Or when Baki was challenged by Chiharu Shiba, and was obviously much stronger than him, but still showed immense respect for his fighting style.
Baki fought Pickle, Yujiro, Oliva, Hanayama, Jack, Sukune, who all possess ridiculous strength, he must know those types are out there. To some extent, Musashi falls into that category as well, easily picking up Baki with one arm and swinging him like a sword.
Just thinking about this, wasn't the Yasha Ape at least 5-6 times the size of a normal human? That was one of the first real opponents Baki defeated, and later, Katsumi, too. Would Aiki work on the Yasha Ape?
Itagaki is not known for consistency. But we still enjoy his crazy manga.

That makes sense that Baki was probably trying to just be polite indeed, in the manga it has always been a point of contrast between himself and his father when it comes to behaving and talking with other people.

Baki has spent enough years getting grinded by other fighters and his own dad to be aware Yujiro is just a total freak and not a fair standard to compare other people to.
Yujiro is just like "WTF is wrong with every living thing except for me ? It's funny how they're all fucking weak, I'd pity them if I gave a shit."

I think Doppo is going to lose, because if he wins they would will have two victories and, since I don't think neither Baki or Sukune will lose their fights, that would make Katsumi and Hanayama lose theirs, because otherwise we will have another Raitai Tournament where they continue fighting despite the fact that one of the two teams has already been defeated.
