It’s not like the new Jojo anime’s were refitted to fit Modern day. I say remake the anime to be more faithful to the manga (we never got a true adaptation of Joe’s and Carlos’ fight). I’d love it if it was a period peace meant to reflect Japan’s recovery. Hell, bring back Aoi Teruhiko to play Joe
And bring back it’s theme song
I don’t want Rikiishi looking like Epsilyon from Votoms

Yeah, but it's not like Jojo is about the socio-economic situation of Japan at a certain period, it's about weirdos who fight while striking poses.

The new characters name is Junk Dog
Anyway, this anime still feels like a weird mix of Ashita no Joe with Votoms, and I love both of these animes.

yeah and it sucks and "remember the 80s?" is not a real theme I’ve seen the first episode and, quite frankly, it seems garbage to me LOL. 😂

everything is MEGA in the future
not bad but this would be 10 times better without the power arms.

I think that I would be able to respect this production more if they'd kill the blur/downscale effect or at least admit that it was a mistake. Every time that this show exhibits an interesting or surprising moment, the fucked resolution reminds me that I'm watching a TV show that has been deliberately manufactured to look 'bad'. I feel that there are some unintended, 'anachronistic' cognitive dissonance-like, effects here: we are aware that older programs were not much cleaner than this show but, at the same time, we are aware that the animation in those older shows was generally not stylized like Megalo Box's animation nor were those productions capable of displaying some of these effects. That aside, the writing is very middle-of-the-road. It holds my interest, unlike Souten no Ken, but it's fairly transparent. I'd be surprised if some of you said that you couldn't predict events at least a couple of minutes in advance in this second episode.

Not so bad, not so great. I will try to watch to the end. It has foundational parallels but whatever

I will be really surprised if Joe doesn't die at the end.

the anime needs a theme song that lives up to the original

I love the thing that they're doing where they summarize the episode with a single frame at the beginning so that I don't have to watch it

Saw the first two episodes.
I think y'all are being a bit harsh on this anime. It's... fine so far. Definitely not anything crazy, but nothing utterly shocks me either.
That said, I still don't see the point of it all. It's some weird cyberpunk boxing anime that's kind of like a new interpretation of AnJ except not really. The characters look like their manga counterparts (except Joe with his insane forehead cleavage), but they're otherwise basically different characters, even with different names. It's definitely recognizable as an SnJ homage, but it's not faithful enough to be considered a new take on it and it's not different enough to be its own thing. I just don't get what it's going for, right now.
But as the weird incomprehensible thing it is, it's not a bad anime so far. Forgettable and apparently pointless, but not downright bad.
