I think that was the right call. Saw Paing vs other Kengan stars on one side and Koga vs Ryuki on the other were the highlights of the tournament. Rihito vs Koga wouldn't really have taught us much about either, the stakes were very low, and I'd rather the author focus on the story and the characters, and not feel obligated to draw a whole fight just for the sake a drawing a whole fight.
Now, I wonder if this Inside thing is gonna be its own arc or just a couple chapters. Seems intriguing, at any rate.

It also makes the most sense : Koga was already in a bad state from the start not having recovered much while Rihito was in much better condition. That and i still think that magic eyes or not and while Koga vastly improved since his random street thugh days, he's not yet on par with kengan fighters lke Rihito or Saw Paing (but if the build up continue he will certainly be at some point).
And with all the talks of the "inside" and how much those Niko, the cloning, Ryuki's "grandpa" and etc... seems to be linked to it, it was damn time we get some arc there.

Well that was surprising, I guess it makes narrative sense as well, and we see that Koga now needs to mix is eye with a good foresight, if notm, he won't be able to compete in the higher leagues.
I'm happy that Lihito won tho, he deserved the win since a while ago.
Change of arc and setting, this ought to be interesting.

At least Koga is lucky Rihito didn't go for his "claws" strikes and knocked him out with regular punches.

Wasn't expecting a big Sekibayashi vs Okubo match out of nowhere starting in the end of this chapter, i hope we'll get some more of it and not some quick summary like when he fought Saw Paing. I hope Seki will win this one, he's got a lot of losses in his matches so far, time for a win.

what a good brawl this is when i was expecting the manga to take a break from kengan matches to move toward the Inside arc , in this chapter it's clear that Okubo is above in fighting technique but Seki absurd strength is apparently making up to it (at least for now but he endured massive damage), that fight could easily go both ways rather fast.

Interesting matchup, but the stakes are a bit low for me to feel too invested. If it sets up a rematch during the next KAT, though, I'd like that.

It's a fun match so far, let's see what Koga can learn from it.

And another great chapter with Seki and Okubo duking it out, but i think a match of that caliber would have been better inside of a kengan tourney instead of coming out of the blue just before the Inside arc. But not complaining much , the match is really good so far.

Hmm Are double KOs a thing in kengan matches? have we ever seen the rules regarding that? I can't quite recall? I mean this time they both went unconscious but after a few secodns they got up, what if both fighters are rendred unable to fingt?

And another good chapter, Okubo and Sekibayashi are still going at it, well mostly Okubo in this chapter Seki was trying to tank the 8 seconds unstoppable barrage of strikes with his body, and in order to force Okubo to get out of breath before those 8 seconds he used his leg as a prop to make a stronger stand in front of Okubo strikes.
I'm not so sure it may be the best idea as he traded getting a beating for 8 seconds for taking a much harder beating for "only" 6, but for Seki it seems to work, and that knee strike in the end looked utterly brutal.
Rather awesome fight, would have deserved to be in the major Kengan tourney.

Okubo surviving the Shining Wizard was something i wasn't expecting, but Seki's DDT to counter his tackle was nasty. What a great match it was, really enjoyed it.
And we're now back to on the road to the Inside.

It was a very nice fight that came unexpectedly. Also, everyone cares about Koga? Okubo as well? Damn he is a good fighter, but he is a better public relations! I'm sure he can make his way in the inside just with his people skills alone.

It is a little obnoxious how Koga has main character syndrome with how much people wanna cozy up to him. I do miss a bit of his edginess, to be honest, but I guess Ryuki took it all for himself.
So next chapter, we finally see what the inside is about I guess.

Regarding the "everyone cares about Koga" and how protective everyone seems to be of him, it seems i may have missed something. I can see why Ryuki does as Koga is the closest to the first friend that Ryuki encountered in his life. I can see why Yamashita does, as Koga nearly died protecting him from the worms raid
But everyone else, it feels i am missing a big part of story in which he "connected" to them so those people caring about Koga make sense. Maybe it's because of some relations they had with Koga's uncle ?
It feels there's still some story development missing there.
