I'm thinking there's more to it than that. If he was just a worm, he wouldn't have fought the worm guys. My current theory is that he was originally a Worm, but split at some point. Maybe he was a rival to whoever was head of the Worm at the time, and wanted to take the organization over with his convoluted Niko plot or something ? It's hard to tell, really, but I doubt it just means he's working with the current baddies.

What I for sure hope is that this is not a body double or some shit and that the past chapters flashback can be trusted and not be some bullshit.

From the new chapter it looks like you were on the right track, it seems Mukaku in the end is a worm that only wanted to be the bigger worm, a bit like Xia Ji but much stronger. Though Mukaku does not seem to worship the Connector anymore (unless it's one of his lies). Next chapter should be interesting as it looks like there will be punching and even if he's not on his prime anymore i guess Mukaku abilities should still be something else.

so is Koga weak or strong? why wank him over and over to just show off now how strong Ohma is?

In the same time that's Mukaku in front of him, not some random worm fodder and i doubt Koga would stand a chance regardless of his plot armor. I know it's manga but it would be silly to have Koga on the level of guys like Ohma from just a year of training with some kengan big guns.

I'm a bit puzzled at the end of that chapter, was expecting some epic fight considering how strong Mukaku is in the opening. Then Ohma's friends team find what seems to be the location in which one of those crazy "gu ritual" happened (and in which Ryuki is currently hold), or in which remnants of cloning experiences are buried or whatever. And once Mukaku figured out they found that place, he just stop fighting ?
Wonder what's happening there, why is this enough for Mukaku to surrender to the Kengan team there.

I think it really us about Ryuki. Mukaku has a plan to take control of the Worm, or at the very least cripple the organization so he can step in. Somehow, this plan involves Ryuki. Now that Ryuki's in the hands of the Kengan people, he probably figures he won't be able to get him back. It was worth him for him to fight if he could prevent Ryuki being found, but if that fails, then there's no point in risking his life anymore. The dude looks strong as fuck, but he doesn't seem to have an interest in fighting for its own sake, and he clearly values his own life enough that he won't endanger it if he doesn't think it's worth it.
In that sense, I think he's similar to Muteba, who only considers his martial skills as a means to an end. The main difference is Muteba's a mercenary and only works for money, while Mukaku has his own personal agenda.

My bet is that the one hanging is not Ryuki, but another connector clone, the guy comming from the back is, just to add another stupid twist to the story. In any case, I wanted to see a bit more of the fight between Ohma and Mukaku. Regarding the end of the chapter, I guess he surrenders because his objetive was to remain secretive, now he is not going to be able to deal with the information "leaking" whatever he does, an as shenlong mentions, he for sure values mroe his own life than most fighters, he won't risk it if he stands to gain nothing.

Yeah, i guess that indeed if Mukaku sees that his whole plan is a failure he wouldn't care to fight further. And maybe being that old he knows that it was his last try, as being only human he wouldn't have the time anymore to try something else. But if the worms are raised/brainwashed to not care for their own life (as the only thing that matter to them is the Connector, not even their own organisation), Mukaku surrendering alive may be highly suspicious.
Though if the guy they rescued is not Ryuki but yet another clone, it could also be Mukaku surrendering to make the kengan team think they thwarted his plan while it's still ongoing.

Not that I had any doubts, but after this chapter I now find even less reason for the Purgatory arc to exist.

Yeah, it feels less and less important now , as there wasn't any reason for the worms to infiltrate purgatory if all they wanted was to get their hand on Ruyki, and why is the worm not interested in the other clone, Ohma that is noticably stronger in every ways ?
The tourney feel more uneeded for them as they could have done the sedate -> abduct thing to him at anytime he walked out of view from kengan people, no need of doing all that tournament business for that.
Maybe there's also a question of age, as i guess a younger mind is required for their "resurrection" brainwashing technique to actually work. But still Ryuki is not a kid anymore, so i doubt he can be used in that kind of thing as his brain is already fully formed.
Oh well , at least we got to see some good matches. But still it's annoying that we lost one of the most charismatic antagonist (Edward) in that arc.

Well at least we now know the reason what Naidan was attempting to "awaken" in Ryuki, but we could have gotten everything and the new fighters directly in kengan matches... I hope Toyoda and that plot become relevant later on because right now it just feel like filler.

I still wonder how much truth there is around Mukaku being a liar and and a fake or the niko style being "made up". What if he did all of that to push everyone away from him so when he would fight with the connector he would not have anyone wanting to fight along with him and dying because he knows the enemy is just too strong. It feels there's something missing from the interactions between Mukaku and the kengan team. Anyways seeing how that chapter is ending with the big bad arriving (especially with how much Ohma is hyping Mukaku as being a true fighting monster above everyone he saw), i wonder if we'll really get to see that Mukaku vs Connector fight or if Sandrovich will just troll everyone and we'll only get a dead Mukaku next chapter
